American Subcontractors Ralph Deaven Award

The Ralph Deaven Lifetime Achievement Award was created by The American Subcontractors Association of Central Pennsylvania to honor an individual who has made a significant contribution to the construction industry for over 25 years.  The recipient does not necessarily need to be a member of ASACP, but someone who has committed their time and efforts to the betterment of the construction industry as a whole.  The award was named after Ralph Deaven, who was president of Hershocks for over 40 years until his retirement in 1988.
He was the charter president of ASACP when it was first forming 40 years ago.

The ASA honored Attorney Tom Beckley this year.  Tom's services were retained to help with the incorporation and starting of the chapter.  He continues to provide counsel to the Chapter and also provides services to our members and other subcontractors in the area.  He or one of his other lawyers submits a monthly newsletter article to keep recipients of the newsletter up-to-date on what's happening in the legal world.  He is also present at every membership meeting to provide information on something hot off the press and answer legal questions from the crowd.  His office also is one of the facilitators for our monthly contract study group.  He does all this for the chapter at no compensation!

Hershocks Community Involvement

Hershocks continues its membership in the ASA as well as many other fine business and community groups. One of the organizations we support is the Lebanon Veterans Medical Center. According to Chief of Voluntary Service Maureen M. Flynn, “Your donation will allow us to provide extra amenities to the veterans that might otherwise not be available. They will be used towards providing regular and special Hershock's Inc. Support our Veterans Silent Auctionactivities (i.e. tickets and transportation to baseball games) and get-togethers for inpatients, as well as providing refreshments and kind words from volunteers serving outpatients at our Hospitality Bar.” To date, Hershocks has raised $19,045.00 for the Lebanon VA Medical Center residents.
