Hershocks’ new home offers spacious showroom, plenty of parking, more convenience.
There’s nothing like moving into a new -or almost new - home. For the past three months, we have been renovating and moving our offices, showroom, sales counter and storage facility from the old Cameron Street location to our “bigger” and “more conveniently” located headquarters at 3501 North Sixth Street.
From the new glass front and Hershocks’ sign, to the spacious showroom and large parking lot, we’re adapting quite well to our new surroundings. As you can see from the pictures, there’s still quite a bit of renovating left to do.
A side wall will soon be knocked out and a new glass atrium entrance will be built to display special tempered glass used for commercial projects. The front counter will be completed once the beveled glass trim is added to the glass Hershock’s sign, and wood paneling is installed to complete the look.
“We have gained almost 1200 sq. ft. of additional space, this includes all of our new offices and conference rooms,” explains Retail Sales Manager Tom Bowman. “When completed, our showroom will be more spacious and inviting. Our customers will be able to browse in a casual atmosphere featuring a complete line of windows and doors.”

The View From Here
It’s amazing how a new look can change the way you feel about yourself and about others. And for the most part, that’s what this issue of “The Inside View” is all about. No, I’m not talking about a new haircut or a new suit. I’m talking about ramifications of altering those things that we all find so familiar.
Our new building here on North Sixth Street is a great example. After spending nearly 70 years in our old Cameron St. headquarters, we are suddenly in a beautiful new facility. New offices. New showroom. (Actually, we are seeing the finished results of a major remodeling of an older building – but for us it’s new and welcoming.) It’s a feeling that is both stimulating and a little daunting. We tell you all about it in this issue of “The Inside View”.
Of course change here maybe the perfect time to talk about possible changes at your place. And since our place is new, you may want to drop in to see how we can help make your place new too. We’ll show you how our windows and doors can not only transform the personality of your home or business but also act as projectors of the way you feel and who you are. My bet is that you’ve never viewed windows and doors in quite this way – but I promise you will after one visit to our “new home.”
One thing that will never change here at Hershocks, Inc. is our on-going commitment to a better community. This is why I’m particularly proud to talk about our upcoming Silent Auction to benefit our hospitalized veterans. If you’re like me you will be shocked to learn that many hospitalized veterans go without the basic comfort items – shaving cream, deodorants, even toothpaste. As a result we’ve made a commitment to raise awareness of this situation by sponsoring a silent auction of sports memorabilia and celebrity items that will raise money for these deserving men and women.
Change in our surroundings. Changes in our home. Changes in our world. We invite you to read all about it – in this issue of “The Inside View”.
Sincerely,
Barry Deaven, President
Hershocks, Inc.
Carved in the living stone of the Veterans Administration building in Washington D.C. are the words of Abraham Lincoln:
“To care for him who shall have borne the battle...”
Hershocks, Inc. proudly sponsors “Support Our Veterans Silent Auction” to benefit hospitalized veterans.
Veterans, as a group, are modest about their sacrifices. These men and women have paid heavy prices – many with their lives – to preserve our freedom.
To honor those who have served our country, especially those who are hospitalized, Hershocks, Inc. is sponsoring a special fundraiser, “Support Our Veterans Silent Auction,” to benefit hospitalized veterans at the VA Medical Center, located in Lebanon, PA. All the money raised from this auction will be used to provide comfort items (i.e. toothbrushes, denture powder and brushes, combs, shaving cream, etc.) and services (televisions, wheelchairs, and recreation programs) to enhance the stay of hospitalized veterans. The federal government provides none of these items.
The silent auction will take place at the Harrisburg Senators Baseball game on Thursday, Sept. 2. Bids will be accepted during the game, and the names of the top bidders will be announced after the 8th inning. Some of the items up for bid include: a baseball bat and ball signed by the late Tug McGraw; an autographed football from the Pittsburgh Steelers 2003 team; an official NFL Cleveland Browns Game Jersey signed by Courtney Brown; and autographed photos of Donald Trump, John Elway and Charlton Heston to name a few.
“One hundred percent of the money raised will be used to benefit the residents at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon. The money will be used to buy some of the little things we all take for granted like electric razors and over-the-counter personal needs,” says Hershocks’ president Barry Deaven. “We hope to raise enough money to purchase bedside televisions for the hospital’s new wing as well.”
Bids can also be placed by visiting the our new showroom located at 3501 N. 6th Street in Harrisburg starting Monday, August 23. You can see the entire list of items by visiting our web site www.hershocks.com and clicking on “News.” For additional information, please call Hershocks, Inc. at 238-7331.
