The survey says...
According to a recent survey commissioned by Celesta Luxury Glass Enclosures, when a panel of1000 adults (485 men and 515 women) were asked whom they would most like to find in their shower, 39 percent of men and 40 percent of women reporting finding their spouse or significant other would be a welcome surprise. However, of the remaining men, Britney Spears was the shower mate of choice with 48 percent, followed by Demi Moore (30 percent) and Jennifer Aniston (22 percent). As for the women respondents who didn't choose their spouse or significant other, George Clooney was tops with 47 percent, followed by Brad Pitt (37 percent) and Paul Newman (16 percent).

The View From Here

If there's one question I get asked more than any other it is this one, "How do I know when it's time to replace my old windows and doors?"

It is of course a great question. And because I have answered it so many times in the past, my response gets a little more precise each time the question is asked. Here's my current best answer. A home is probably an ideal candidate for a window replacement if its windows are sealed or painted shut, experiences ice buildup or a frosty glaze during the winter, gets fogged with condensation or has drafts that come through the windows. When considering doors, look for broken or damaged seals and frames that are warped.

I think you'll agree that's a pretty straightforward answer. But there's more. After I state all the practical reasons for replacement - including all the money you save by making your home significantly more energy efficient, I then turn my attention to the emotional side of windows and doors replacement - the fact that new windows and doors can often transform an old house into a new dream home.

It's true that most people invest in their homes for practical reasons. But there is also a great deal of comfort that comes from seeing your home in a brand new light. New windows and doors can really make that happen!

Here's another point to consider. When you think of doors, don't just think about the exterior doors that open into your home or act as an entrance from room to room. Also give some thought to the glass enclo sures in your bathroom. Hershocks, Inc. 2nd Annual “Support Our Veterans Silent Auction” Benefits Hospitalized Veterans

Among all males aged 75 or over in 2005, 50 percent will be WWII veterans, while 1.5 percent of all women of that age will be WWII veterans. – WWII 60TH Anniversary Committee

Veterans, as a group, are modest about their sacrifices. These men and women have paid heavy prices - many with their lives - to preserve our freedom.

To honor those who have served our country, especially those who are hospitalized, Hershocks, Inc. is once again sponsoring a special fundraiser, "The 2nd Annual Support Our Veterans Silent Auction," to benefit hospitalized veterans at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon. All the money raised from this auction will be used to provide comfort items (i.e. tooth-brushes, denture powder and brushes, combs, shaving cream, etc.) and services (televisions, wheelchairs, and recreation programs) to enhance the stay of hospitalized veterans. The federal government provides none of these "comfort items and services".

The silent auction will take place at the Harrisburg Senators Baseball game on Thursday, Sept. 1. "One hundred percent of the money raised will be used to benefit the residents at the VA Medical Center," says Hershocks' president Barry Deaven. "We raised $4410.00 last year, and the money was used towards paying for recreational activities for the patients and for new bedside televisions."
